Save, back up and restore Cat Dash

Keep your current puzzle, carry a backup to another browser, and check a restore before it replaces your progress.

What the game saves

A successful save keeps your current level and the cats still on its board, the remaining hearts, and the mistakes and hints used in that attempt. It also keeps unlocked levels, your best stars, the current puzzle's cat team, your chosen team for new puzzles, sound preference and motion setting.

These records belong to this website in this browser. There is no account or automatic cloud sync. Automatic saving requires browser storage and support for reserving saving access for one game tab. The progress display shows whether this tab can save and whether a save succeeded. If it reports a problem, keep the game open and make a backup before refreshing.

Keep using the same browser profile and address, or download a backup to move your records. A browser without the required safe-saving support can still play and export the open game, but it cannot automatically save or apply a restore. Use an up-to-date browser with the required support for those operations; check the displayed save status instead of assuming a browser is supported.

Older versions saved level unlocks, stars, teams and preferences, but did not record a partly cleared board. Those older records can be preserved; the missing in-progress board cannot be reconstructed. An older saved mute preference stays muted.

Download a complete backup

  1. Open Progress & settings below the game.
  2. Choose Download backup. Keep the downloaded JSON file somewhere you can find it.
  3. Make a new backup after progress you would not want to lose. A previously downloaded file does not update itself.

The backup includes your saved game, current puzzle, cat teams and relevant settings. It is a data file, not a copy of the game or its artwork. Downloading it does not erase your browser save. If browser storage is unavailable, the current open game's backup is especially important.

Check a backup before restoring

  1. Open the game in the destination browser and go to Progress & settings. Check that this tab can save. If another game tab owns autosave, close that other tab and use Save again first.
  2. Select Choose backup file. The game checks the file and shows a summary; selecting a file alone does not replace your progress.
  3. Compare the preview with what you want to keep. Restoration replaces this browser's current save; it does not add together two different play histories.
  4. Choose Restore this backup only after checking. The game first stores a pre-import copy of the previous browser record. If that safety copy cannot be saved, it stops the restore.

Use Download pre-import backup to keep the automatic safety copy outside the browser. It is the most recent pre-import copy, not an unlimited history, and it may not include unsaved changes still open in another tab. Download the open tab's backup first if you want to keep those changes. Clearing site data can remove the local safety copy too. An invalid or unsupported file should leave the current records unchanged; use Contact if you need help identifying the file.

One tab owns automatic saving

Only one Cat Dash tab at a time can write this browser's save. A second tab tells you that another game tab owns autosave. You can keep playing and download a backup from the second tab, but its changes are not automatically written over the first tab's progress.

  1. Download this tab's backup if it has different progress you want to keep.
  2. Close the tab that currently owns autosave.
  3. In the tab you want to keep, choose Save again to request saving access.
  4. If the saved record changed, choose Use latest browser save and confirm Use latest before continuing. Do not discard a different open game until you have exported it.

The game does not merge two boards or promise to combine competing results. If the browser reports that it cannot reserve safe autosave, playing and exporting remain available; use a supported current browser to save automatically. For ordinary storage failures, follow the saving checks before deleting anything.

Restart is different from clearing data

Restart resets the current puzzle to all its cats and three hearts. It does not erase earlier best stars or unlocked levels. Clearing this website's data in browser settings removes locally stored records, settings and local safety copies. Download a backup first if you want to retain them.

Private sessions, a different browser profile or a different website address can have separate storage. Support cannot retrieve an erased local save from an account. Read the privacy notice for the distinction between game saves and site analytics.
