Orange tabby, gray tabby and tuxedo make up the initial selection. White cat, blue cat, Siamese, calico, black cat and ragdoll are also ready to add. A catalog preview is an invitation to inspect a style, not a locked reward that requires stars.
Build a team in Cat friends
- Open Cat friends from the game.
- Select a cat card to see its name, artwork and preview controls.
- Choose Add to team to include that style, or Remove from team to exclude it.
- Keep at least one style selected. The game does not allow an empty team.
- Restart the puzzle or open a new board to see the changed selection in play.
Selecting a card for preview does not itself add that cat to your team. Check the In team badge and the roster shown in the catalog. You may use one style or several; choosing a larger team does not add more cats to the layout.
On a new board, the game cycles through the selected team as it assigns artwork to the existing cats. That means not every selected style must appear in a puzzle with fewer cats than your team contains. This is an artwork assignment, not a random rarity roll.
What a cat choice changes
A style changes the illustrated head, body segments, tail, expressions and associated decorative effect. It does not change the cat's occupied squares, the direction its head faces, the number of hearts, or the conditions for stars. Black cat has no stealth advantage, and the Siamese catalog label “Clever” does not reveal extra solutions.
There are no paid cat unlocks, strength upgrades or style-specific puzzle powers in the current game. You can complete the same level with any team selection. If one coat pattern helps you follow a long body more easily, that can be a useful visual preference; it is not a change to collision rules.
Use the expression preview
The catalog offers Idle, Hint, Oops, Dash and Win previews. These let you inspect the available character art. On the board, idle is the normal face, Hint accompanies the highlighted choice, Oops accompanies a blocked attempt, and Dash appears during an exit.
The Win preview is artwork you can view in the catalog; it is not a promise that every cat switches to that face on the puzzle board. Previewing expressions or the decorative effect does not spend a heart, count as an in-game hint or improve a score. The in-game Hint button is a separate control.
Why a current puzzle may keep the old team
Changing your selection does not repaint a puzzle that is already in progress. The current board keeps the team it started with, while the new selection is used when you restart or open another board. This keeps the characters you were following recognizable during the same attempt.
The save records both the current puzzle's team and your selection for new boards. When a partly cleared puzzle is restored, it retains its own team, even if your newer catalog selection is different. Restarting applies the current selection but also resets that attempt's remaining cats, hearts, hints and mistakes.
Check the save status if you want your selection to persist after closing the browser. The game has no account-based collection; its teams and progress are local records that can travel in a downloaded backup.
Choose for clarity, then solve the layout
Begin with a small team if fewer coat patterns are easier to read, or mix your favorites for variety. In either case, follow each head toward the board edge. Use the strategy guide for exit chains, blocked-cat help for confusing body shapes, and the wiki for level guides.
